An Eulogy to my Fallen Soldier [Dotun Fodoju, Apr. 1986- Nov. 2007]
How are the mighty fallen
And their weapons of war - destroyed!
There can be many a friend,
But not one like you
Not one that would have touched my life
The times we had together,
The funs we had
The Bad and the Good
The Sweet and the Sour
Not until you started loosing your fight to Cancer
It might seem that you lost it
But to us you didn’t
A fight is only lost when we visualize it lost
We don’t visualize it lost
Even though we cannot be physical again
We never can have those fun time
Never have those good times,
Never live to see ourselves dream come to life
There is one thing we sure realized
Life is but a journey - with a start and a finish -
You walked yours
You gave it your best
The best in the capacity of the life you have touched
To a point that you have made it clear,
It’s not about the figures we accumulate on our ages
It the figures we accumulate through our influences on people
You’ve challenged us, We look to it and live to it
Even as you’re not here anymore,
We your friends [from the “crib”] will all miss you
Sola (a.k.a nErDYMONK), Victor and Dele -
Still in shocked, you have most importantly thought us -
We should teach ourselves to number our days
And most importantly,
Apply our minds to wisdom - We just can’t tell -
Who’s next?
And for the question you often asked me (Dele) that I never answered,
Yes, I love your sister but probably Sola( nErDYMONK) will take care of her.
Odabo! with Love you!
Dedicated to my friend who passed on few days ago after a long battle with Cancer -
Ms. Dotun Fodoju (Apr. 1986 - Nov. 2007)

I’m very sorry for your loss. If there’s one thing I learned from this eulogy, It will be that we should all know that our days are numbered.
